Press Release from Berrien County Trail Court

The Trial Court's jury office has received a number of calls and emails regarding a telephone scam.

Citizens report calls in which someone posing as a law enforcement officer tells them that they failed to appear for jury service. The caller may use case numbers or the names of local officials in order to seem authentic. The caller attempts to compel the citizen to pay a "fine" over the phone or using a payment app (PayPal, Zelle or other) or risk being arrested.
