McCoy Creek Trail Update 2023
This has been a busy and productive year for the Board.
We have 3 new Board Members who have brought a lot of new ideas and enthusiasm. Shawn Ward, Gina Textor and Ralph McDonald from the City planning
commission.
We also lost 2 of our founding Members - Lloyd Miller and Sheila Daly. Their knowledge and history of the Trail will be lost. They LOVED the Trail.
Projects completed in the last 12 months include:
- Trail Extension from Schirmer Parkway to River St Joe Brewery
- Metal deck rails on the two overlook decks
- Added additional 8 American Chestnuts trees
- Scouts built staircases on each side of Proud Creek
- Scouts built a bridge over Proud Creek
- Berrien County Prisoners worked to cut back brush so the Creek is visible
- to walkers ( 6 very productive days by the Prisoners )
- We also had another very successful Trek-N-Treat ( 1200)
Several benches were placed to Honor individuals
- Bob Hoven
- Lou Desenberg ( President of Mich Gateway)
- Class of 1962 - gift from Class reunion
In an effort to get more people involved on the Trail we have asked two local
firms to landscape an area for us.
- Edgewater Automation - Bainton Mill
- Redbud Roots - Comer of the Commons closest to the Creek.
A big shout out to the DPW workers who assist the Board with several
projects each year.
