Job Opening: Water Distribution System Operator (WDSO)
The City of Buchanan is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Water Distribution System Operator (WDSO) to join our team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and safety of the city's water distribution system. The WDSO is responsible for maintaining and operating the system, performing inspections, making repairs, and supporting long-term water system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair the water distribution system using both manual and power-operated tools.
- Perform tasks such as lubricating and maintaining equipment, collecting water samples, and keeping accurate records.
- Ensure water is delivered safely and efficiently to meet current and future needs of the community.
- Additional duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the water system.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work Monday-Friday, with some weekend work required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement.
- The job requires physical agility, including the ability to walk, stand for extended periods, and perform semi-skilled manual labor.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive pay range: $22.65 - $25.11 per hour. Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, life insurance, disability insurance, deferred compensation, pension, paid vacation, and holidays.
