Front Street Retaining Wall Improvements
CONTRACT DESCRIPTION: The City of Buchanan, Michigan is seeking qualified contractors to remove and replace an existing timber retaining wall located along E. Front Street across the street from The American Legion (403 E Front Street, Buchanan, MI 49107). The retaining wall is to be replaced with a 1’-0” wide reinforced concrete retaining wall tying into existing conditions. The scope of work also includes the demolition and replacement of the existing concrete sidewalk adjacent to the retaining wall, protection of existing curb, gutter and HMA roadway, installation of retaining wall railing, maintenance of traffic, erosion control measures, site clearing and restoration, local permitting measures and coordination allowances with the City of Buchanan for the construction of a banner pole base in conjunction with this project. Substantial Completion is scheduled for June 30, 2025.
CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: The proposal and contract forms as well as the plans and specifications under which the work will be done will be available via a file share website. Requests for access to the file share website may be sent to emoreno@jpr1source.com.
In addition, the documents may be examined at the City Hall, Buchanan, Michigan.
NON MANDATORY PRE-BID: A pre-bid meeting is not planned or scheduled, but bidders are encouraged to visit the site prior to preparing/submitting a bid. Technical questions shall be submitted by Friday January 3, 2025 by 2 pm ET to emoreno@jpr1source.com
BID OPENING: Sealed proposals bearing the project name will be received by the City of Buchanan (Owner), Michigan in the City Hall office of the City Clerk located at 302 N Redbud Trail, Buchanan, MI 49107 until Thursday January 9, 2025 at 2:00pm local time, at which time and place the proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud for the project. Sealed bids shall be based on a unit-price basis.
BIDDING INSTRUCTIONS & SECURITY:
The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory performance bond as well as labor and material bond. For execution of the contract, a certified check or bidder's bond in an amount of not less than five percent (5%), made payable to the Owner, of the amount of the proposal will be required with each proposal. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities in proposals and to accept the proposal, which in the opinion of the Commission, best serves the interest of the City. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of bids for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time of receiving bids.
