Lead Service Water Line Notification
The notification letters recently sent out from the City’s Water Department are required by the State of Michigan to inform water customers of the risk potential of lead materials in their drinking water lines. The City is currently in the process of positively identifying the material composition of all water lines in the City’s system with the ultimate goal of replacing all suspected lead service lines throughout the system.
The City of Buchanan is responsible for providing high quality and safe drinking water to its citizens. The State of Michigan and US EPA requires us to test our water on a frequent basis to ensure its safety. This testing includes the monitoring for lead in the drinking water. For the most recent round of lead testing, all results were far below the State’s Lead Action Level of 15 parts per billion (ppb). For Buchanan, all lead levels were measured between zero and 3 parts per billion.
The City of Buchanan is committed to providing clean and safe drinking water to all users in its system. Review of the City’s Water Quality Report will exhibit such. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Craig Miller, the City’s Water Operator in Charge, at cmiller@cityofbuchanan.com or by calling 269-695-3844 Ext. 11. All calls will be returned.
